Well, tonight is the Senior prom, and my oldest has (so far) shown extremely good judgement. He drove my car (the S2000, aka “the Queen”), and safely made it to dinner, to the dance, and back home to change. He should be back here shortly after 2:30am, with tales of knocking down a 20oz prime rib that at dinner that was more rare than he’d like, as well as many other stories.
He has great friends, he makes great choices, and I couldn’t be prouder of him. 😀

I survived the Mini-Marathon! Though my time was worse than last year, it was better than I had expected (I averaged approximately 9:55/mile pace), given how little I’ve been able to train and that I’m about 15 lbs heavier than I was a year ago.
All in all, I’m happy to have finished, to have pushed myself, but to have not pushed too hard.
Now if you’ll excuse me, my 45 year-old legs need a serious nap!

However, there is joy in running, and finishing, regardless of my finishing results.
I’m off!

You might think the title of this post is redundant, but my experience has been that there is laughter, and there is LAUGHTER. The laughter I’m speaking of is more than a chuckle, or even a belly laugh. I’m talking about laughter from the soul. Today, I was thinking of starting to podcast in addition to (or instead of) blogging, and this subject came to mind. (I think it deserves a bit of exploration, regardless of the content delivery mechanism.) (more…)
Of Sheepdogs and Wolves, White-hats and Black-hats April 26, 2006

Recently, I followed a couple of links and found myself reading a reprinted essay: On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs. Notwithstanding the sweeping generalizations that suggest that all liberals are bad or all conservatives are good, it was a thought-provoking article. Am I a sheep, or a sheepdog?
