Drive Time 1 September 9, 2007

I know… I need to video these earlier in the day instead of in twilight. There’s some color funkiness that comes in when things got really dark, but such is life.

I’m debating trying this instead of writing everything. Please let me know what you think.

The Curious Incident of the Turkeys (and Cars) in the Daytime April 25, 2007

Since my older sister let the cat (or turkey) out of the bag, I suppose I should go on the record with my official version of “The Turkey Incident.” Technically, this might qualify as a Stupid Human Trick, but for now, I’ll leave it here.

(No, I have no idea why the turkey in the picture is wearing a monocle, and looks a bit like Colonel Klink.)

I swear that the following is true, to the best of my recollection. As Mr. Carlson (from WKRP in Cincinnati) once said, “With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.” (more…)

I’m back from the trip, and am almost coherent again. I spent about 8 days in Djibouti, and the rest of my time in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia. All in all, it was a wonderfully productive trip. I enjoyed lots of time elbow-to-elbow with my childhood best friend, and he and I accomplished a lot while we were there.

I took lots of pictures, but for now, here are a couple that I snagged with my camera phone:

(OK, that wasn’t taken in Africa. That’s the business end of a Ford GT sitting in the Dubai airport.)

That’s a panorama of three images I took of the Ghourbet, which is part of the Gulf of Arden. To see exactly where I was when I took that pic, the Google Map location is here.

The last picture is of the small island that you can see in the Google map. I took this pic, standing in a few inches of water, roughly at the center of the map, looking East.

Pink for October October 1, 2006

In case you’re wondering why things are a bit… well… pink, go here, or here.

I only know a few people who have been victims of breast cancer, but those few are too many.
