The rental agreement said “Compact Car.” The clerk asked if I wanted to upgrade to something larger, I responded (as you always should), “What do I have now?”
“A PT Cruiser” was the reply.
Well, it’s not exactly what I would call a compact car, but it was definitely larger than any number of small cars I’ve driven. I wasn’t going to drive a ton of miles, but wanted those few miles to be comfortable. Fortunately, I was only slightly disappointed.

Color blindness sucks.
Let me rephrase. Being “red-green pastel color-blind,” along with roughly 10% of the male population, in a world where color vision is assumed, really sucks.
To elaborate further, what really sucks is that so many of the components of everyday life in the United States demand usable color vision. It’s not just a matter of convenience, it’s a matter of safety. (more…)

No, I didn’t suddenly begin flaunting my ghostly white skin and tormenting the locals without polarized sunglasses. “Topless,” in this regard, means driving around with the top down in a convertible.
In a convertible, I’m out in the open, exposed to the world as I drive along. Is this a good thing? (more…)
