Thank you for the e-mails asking why I haven’t posted. This past week was extremely busy and stressful, including a couple of consecutive days where I worked 23 hours and 20 hours, without so much as leaving the office.
I am WAAAAAYYY too old for that… uhm… stuff. 😀
IE7 Beta: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly February 2, 2006

Working in the tech industry, it’s not uncommon for me to try out the latest and greatest stuff. Somethings the latest isn’t the greatest, but there are also surprises.
Recently, I hopped on the bleeding edge bandwagon (to mix a metaphor), and downloaded the new Internet Explorer 7 Beta. Given that IE isn’t my standard browser, I wasn’t all that concerned about changes to my browsing habits, or bugs that might disrupt proper display of Google’s home page or something like that.
What I forgot, is how deeply embedded IE is into Windows XP (a point that MS lawyers pounded into our collective consciousness during the anti-trust trials).

Perverse Intel iMac Idea January 11, 2006

There are times that things pop into my head that are technically feasible, but are such Rube Goldberg notions that I’m almost embarrassed to admit that they crept into my consciousness. Tonight, my perverse technical side was trying to find justification for buying one of the new Intel-based iMacs.
